Memory

Some photos suggest stories about a distant past. The facts may be a dim memory for you. However the images are important, of a grandparent, a time in your life long ago, or of a lost loved one that you always think about, but not necessarily the specifics of a story.

In storytelling, it is usually not that important to let the facts stand in the way of the truth. Even if you can't remember the name of the place where the picture was taken, or who took the picture, or even what was going on in the life of the person or people suggested by the image, you can always tell a story about the image.

Many stories are about the process of finding the stories themselves. For example, your relationship to the image, the desire it creates in you, is in itself a story. When do you remember first receiving it? Was there a time it was particularly important to you? What comfort do you draw from the image?
