Consulting on Large-Scale Initiatives

The Center offers end-to-end planning and consulting support for groups seeking to develop their own large-scale programs in Digital Storytelling.

In the past several years, CDS partners have implemented a number of projects for organizations working to capture the stories of their constituencies. These have ranged from campaigns within a given time frame to ongoing and self-sustaining programs. From this experience, we have designed a scalable process that considers a wide range of components customizable to the organization’s goals. Program components include:

  • Needs Analysis - Identifying contexts, resources, goals, and objectives of program.
  • Orientation - Stakeholders participation in special training in digital storytelling.
  • Planning/Analysis - Develop timelines, budgeting, development, and marketing ideas.
  • Administration - Communication structures, intranet, outreach, technology, and documentation.
  • Training Workshops - Train the trainer, pilot workshops with constituents, and trainer skill assessments.
  • Campaign Implementation - Extranet, web design, media production, special events, and public relations.
  • Evaluation - "Making Of…" Digital Story, participant video or phone interviews, stakeholder gathering, and report writing.

As leaders in the field, CDS partners have over 60 years of combined experience in issues of human interface design, interaction design, story and dramatic theory, non-profit organizational planning and development, event production, software product development, web design, online community building, and the development and management of community and educational technology programs and centers.
