Facilitator in Training

The Facilitator in Training (FIT) workshop has been designed for individuals who are interested in acquiring skills for assisting at or leading digital storytelling workshops. The FIT offers in-depth skills assessment and focused opportunities for participants to work on developing their capabilities in chosen content areas (story content, visual design, facilitation of individual and group processes, and technical). We at the Center feel that considerable expertise across each of these content areas is necessary to successfully guide people through the process of creating digital stories. While attending a FIT will advance participants’ learning, they are unlikely to leave the workshop feeling fully prepared to facilitate workshops on their own. We therefore offer a variety of follow-up opportunities for FIT participants to collaborate with us on the development of their projects, as a way of providing ongoing mentoring, support, and learning in the field.

Continuing Education Credits available through Dominican University of California (two CEUs) or University of Colorado. This workshop also counts towards the requirements for the Digital Storytelling Certificate.

Prerequisite for FIT: Completion of a CDS 3-day Digital Storytelling Workshop either a Standard Workshop or Educator Workshop. For more information please email workshop@storycenter.org.
You cannot take the 3-day workshop and the 5-day FIT at the same time. FIT facilitators-in-training run a 3-day workshop as part of their training, and thus cannot be a teacher and a student of the workshop that they are teaching at the same time.
