Stories-of-Health Workshop
Workshop Description
Personal stories can play a key role in health care training, health service provision, and community-based public health efforts. Our Stories-of-Health program area has a long track record of working with organizations to integrate digital stories into their direct service, health education, communications, advocacy, and leadership development efforts. Learn more about our work in the health and human services fields, and read case studies of individual projects.
Our public Stories-of-Health Workshop is an introduction to digital storytelling for individuals and organizations interested in collaborating with us on customized health-related projects. Participants will come away from the session with a clear understanding of the digital storytelling process and how it can enhance the quality of their programs and contribute to outcomes in the public health and health services fields.
Participants share a story in a Story Circle, write and record a short script (no more than 150 words in length), and complete very short videos. In the second phase of the workshop, we review project planning guidelines for digital storytelling and work with participants to outline potential collaborative projects.
Please note, this is an abbreviated workshop that will allow you to become familiar with our storytelling process and understand how it can fit into your programs. Most participants will not feel like they have improved their video editing skills or made a polished story during the 1.5 day workshop. For a more in-depth experience story, please sign up for a three-day Standard Workshop. We also offer an advanced skills training program for individuals interested in facilitating digital storytelling processes.
