Involved
The
Center for Digital Storytelling located in Berkeley, is a community arts
center focused on multimedia/digital media training and production. Since
the early 1990s, our programs have been exploring the role that personal
narrative, storytelling, and new media can play in education, community
building, and social change efforts. We offer beginning-level training
workshops in digital video editing, image editing, and scripting; collaborate
with universities and community-based organizations in the Bay Area and
across the U.S.; and provide one-on-one support for individual multimedia
projects.
If
you would like to learn more about our work and get involved with our
organization we have the following opportunities:
Support
a storyteller

who would not otherwise be able to by making a donation to our Scholarship
Fund. To do so, send a check made out to "Center for Digital Storytelling"

Volunteers

tasks, marketing, outreach, mailings, workshop preparation, and lab maintenence.
We require a minimum committment of 8-10 hours per month and volunteers
can count hours towards a workshop credit.
Post-Production
CDS has a continuous need for volunteer support to complete post
production on completed stories from workshops as well as for special
production projects. Post production includes cleaning, outputting and

also train in our particular method.
Curriculum
Development & Project-based support

need to keep our curriculum materials current as well as translating our
curriculum into various languages and media formats. We also depend on
volunteer support to help develop special collaborative projects with
other local, regional, national and international community organizations.
Internships
Interns
at CDS will have the opportunity to explore new media tools and share
their own stories. They will assist with preparation, instruction, and
post-production related to monthly digital storytelling workshops in Berkeley
and other specialized workshops held in collaboration with various groups.
Interns will also assist with the development of educational and promotional
materials, community outreach, data backup/management, and general administrative
tasks.
