Snapshot Story Workshop

Workshop Description

Our Snapshot Story workshop focuses more on storytelling and less on technology. The curriculum is designed to give participants a taste of what happens during our three-day workshops while reducing the technical training aspect of those sessions. Participants bring a single photo and a device of their choice -- a smart phone, a laptop, an iPad, or they can use one of the CDS lab computers. They are supported in telling a story that only they can tell, about (and behind) their photo. The morning begins with a story circle, so participants can find a story in their photo in a group facilitated environment. In the afternoon, participants record audio straight into their devices and are assisted by CDS facilitators in using video editing software or apps to combine their voice recording and photo and export a finished Snapshot Story. As with all of our workshops, the day concludes with a sceening and celebration of the stories that have been produced.

Requirements

Participants must bring a 2GB or larger jump drive to save their exported story and source material, as well as a smartphone preloaded with a video editing app; an ipad with a video editing app, or any PC or Mac laptop.
