Testimonials
Everyday voices and stories are crucial to the success of our work to engage men in taking a stand against gender-based violence. The Center for Digital Storytelling's Silence Speaks initiative has provided Sonke Gender Justice with a wealth of invaluable training and consulting support and has made possible the development of nearly 70 digital stories that explore South African experiences of violence, HIV and AIDS, and other issues. These stories are being shown on a regular basis by our staff in four regional offices and aired on community radio stations across the country that reach thousands of listeners daily. The Center’s vision for integration of narrative across multiple programs and for multiple purposes has been truly inspired.

The Center for Digital Storytelling has created a global movement by transforming sometimes-abstract ideology-social change, social justice, and empowerment – into a tangible, aesthetic experience.

The Center for Digital Storytelling is ground zero for the international digital storytelling movement. They are the one-stop shop for everything from theory to practice, from local stories to global narratives, from community organizing to personal change. For people who want to learn about this methodology, get hands-on practice in a supportive atmosphere, find teaching resources, or get involved in generating collaborative, community story projects ... the Center is the place to go!

The Center is a uniquely supportive place for the creation of personal and community stories. The facilitators strike a wonderful balance between the intuitive and the practical, keeping students focused and on track without compromising their individual voices. I can't recommend their workshops enough!
