Certain stories in our lives deserve to be walked back to, again and again — not settled once and told the same way forever, but returned to with new eyes, new distance, and the clarity that only time provides. Bermudian and Caribbean-based educator Janet Ferguson and StoryCenter founder Joe Lambert will lead you through a series of writing sessions built around this practice of return, which will evolve into three to four digital stories over a ten-week period.
The writing moves through seven signposts — waymarkers along a long life, not stages to check off in order:
Where You Are Rooted
Who You Have Become
Who You Have Loved
What You Have Made
What You Have Lost
What You Have Learned
Where You Are Headed
After writing into these signposts in the first few sessions, you'll be supported in shaping a set of digital stories that grow from that writing. We hope this workshop will be a great way to deepen your storytelling, writing, media production, and digital storytelling skills — and to sit honestly with what a long life actually holds.
This workshop requires attendance at ten sessions on consecutive Fridays (for 2 hours) from October 9 – December 16, 2026 (no class Thanksgiving week). Each session begins at 9 am Pacific Standard Time.
Registration closes when the workshop is at capacity.
SPECIAL NOTES
The course will span ten sessions over 10 weeks, with two 2-hour session each week as well as ample time to meet individually with any of the facilitators.
